During the spring of 2013 I was able to partner with a National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) chapter in Rogersville, Mo., named The Rogersville Strutters.
With a team of volunteers we were able to take part in a disabled youth turkey hunt. The Rogersville Strutters started this hunt a couple of years prior, specially for kids who had some type of disability.
Groups then take them on turkey hunts when they might not have the chance to do so otherwise.
It all started in 2012 when I was doing a youth hunting field day called a Jakes Day sponsored by their NWTF chapter. While at this event I was asked to be a part of the hunt.
With a little planing we were able to return in the spring of 2013 to take a young boy from Fordland, Mo., named Owen Baird. Owen suffers from the disease of autism.
