As the weather warms, and the trees start to bud out, many of us are eager to start our spring fishing.
For the majority of anglers, this means bass, crappie, and catfish. There are some of us, though, that are eager to get lines in the water for other species that the majority of anglers don’t pay much attention to.
These fish, which are some of my favorites, include suckers, gar, carp, drum, buffalo, bowfin, and even eels. These “other fish” are far from unsporting. Each of them is unique, offering their own attraction to anglers.
Some are very elusive, ancient, and make challenging specimens to target. Others are just plain beautiful, while others are absolutely delicious. Some fall into a few different categories.
