What’s hanging in that tree?

It’s a trap! These specialized insect traps are part of a monitoring program between Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri Department of Agriculture, and USDA to detect invasive insects that can harm our state’s forests and trees.

If you find a trap on the ground, or otherwise damaged, please call the phone number on the trap and report its location. You can also email location details to Forest.Health@mdc.mo.gov. Here’s a description of each trap photographed: A) Funnel traps catch tiny bark and ambrosia beetles. B) Delta traps are used to capture spongy moth. C) Prism traps detect emerald ash borer. D) Flight intercept traps capture longhorned beetles.
