Healthy rivers and streams are important to us here in Missouri. I share the love of our waterways like many of you.
Not only for the necessities water provides us but also as a paddler, long distance open water swimmer, and creek tromp arounder.
For me, water brings many gifts to my life and that is why I have chosen a career that allows me to play a small part in a larger effort of working to protect and improve waters of The Great River State.
These places aren’t just part of our way of life, they are also a big part of our economy. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reports that in 2011, $2.7 billion was spent on wildlife recreation in Missouri, including $657 million on fishing, and more than 2.5 million people participated in these recreation activities throughout the state.
