Was Missouri’s first casino at Lake of the Ozarks in the 1930s?

I was looking through a box of old photographs when I came across a 1946 souvenir from the Lake of the Ozarks.

It was a set of postcard-size pictures called “Greetings from Lake of the Ozarks.”

The other side was labeled “Souvenir Folder of the Lake of the Ozarks in Scenic Missouri.” It contained 15 different color photographs of various scenes including Grand Glaize Bridge, Hurricane Deck Bridge, Duckhead Point, several different views of Bagnell Dam, and other familiar places.

Although in color, the pictures are obviously black & white photos that have been hand-colored. Two of these pictures got my attention and made me think, “How can this be?”

The first one is called “The Cut, North Entrance Bagnell Dam, U.S. Highway 54” and has a picture of where the road cuts through a high embankment with bluffs on both sides.
