If you are looking for a interesting, unique but beautiful place to visit this summer, stop by the Black Madonna Shrine near Pacific, Missouri.
The Black Madonna Shrine and Grottos are located on 300 acres in the foothills of the Ozarks.
A grotto is a cave or artificial recess or structure made to resemble a natural cave. All of the grottos except one at this shrine are man-made.

The shrine and grottos are constructed of concrete and native Missouri tiff rock which came from Old Mines Missouri, southwest of the site.
The materials used in ornamentation include colored glass, sea shells, and costume jewelry.
