Visit one of the smallest state historic sites

Consider stopping in Herculaneum the next time that you are driving on Interstate 55 in southeast Missouri.

There you can visit one of the smallest of the 93 Missouri State Parks and Historic Sites.

Governor Daniel Dunklin’s Grave is one of the smallest state historic sites and not far from the interstate. But even at 1.37 acres, it is not the smallest one.

There are a few others that are smaller. The Union Covered Bridge State Historic Site is 1.24 acres, the Thomas Hart Benton Home is .32 acres, the Felix Valle House is .77 acres, and the Deutschheim State Historic Site is .69 acres, to name a few.
