I receive hundreds of emails daily from a variety of outfitters, resorts and other outdoors-related folks but this headline caught my attention:
“If you’re looking for a vacation rental that is slightly more adventurous than usual, it’s worth looking into renting one of the USFS fire lookout towers or backcountry cabins.”
It was at the very bottom of one of Filson’s email newsletters, and I almost didn’t see it. After I read it I thought, yep, this is a pretty cool idea and since the Traveler has published several stories about fire towers throughout Missouri, I thought our readers would enjoy this additional information from Filson.
Here it is, straight from Filson’s website:
These cabins and towers maintained by the USFS are spread all around the country and are available on a first come, first serve basis by booking through the National Recreation Reservation System at www.recreation.gov.
