There are not many things more disappointing for an archery deer hunter than to have a major equipment malfunction in the final weeks of the season.
That happened to me recently.
My favorite time to bowhunt are the weeks after Christmas until the season’s end.
After a pre-Christmas hunt, I shot my crossbow to unload it and, without any sign that something was wrong, my cable derailed.
Luckily there was no limb damage, but I knew I needed a new string.
After some research and a couple of phone calls, I found Steve Kreter. Steve owns and operates Mid Mo Archery and Shooting Supplies just west of California, Mo., off Highway 50.
