Some US residents haven’t seen a deer

Technology has its pros and cons, but one thing I have personally witnessed is the way it has connected people globally.

My daughter, Karlene, has been able to connect with other teens who share similar interests all over the world. One of which is Australian.

They have lots of chats about video games, art, and life in general. But one chat that really caught my interest was about deer.

This young lady expressed to my daughter that she would LOVE to come to America to see deer in the wild.

Karlene let her know that deer are abundant here in Missouri and even sent her a few photos from our game cams at our camper lot.

I find it interesting that Missouri is home to an estimated 1.4 million deer, but our friends down under in Australia live in one of two continents in the world where deer are not naturally located. (The other being Antarctica)

Sure, Europeans did introduce them as game animals in the 19th century, but they are not as prolific as they are in North America.

It’s pretty easy to take deer for granted where we live, which is why I decided to kick off 2022 with some fun facts about deer.

I hope you find them interesting, enjoyable, and educational.
