I have a confession to make. I have been a duck hunter for more than 65 years but I do not enjoy eating wild duck.

If I shoot one — and that, frankly, is a rare occasion — I will eat it but not with unbridled enthusiasm. It is an acquired taste that I have never acquired.
And I know a lot of other duck hunters who don’t like it, either, although they probably won’t admit it unless waterboarding is involved.
