Back in 2022 I wrote an article for River Hills Traveler expressing both my love and concern for Mill Creek.
While there are several creeks with the name “Mill Creek” in Missouri, the one I am referring to is located in Phelps County.

It flows north through both the Mark Twain National Forest and MDC’s Bohigian Conservation Area.
The stream’s source is southeast of Flat and gains flow thanks to various springs located along its course until it joins the Little Piney near Newburg.
As I pointed out in my 2022 article, I hate seeing how time and funding have not necessarily been kind to this area.
Much of it is located in the Mark Twain National Forest, and in my lifetime I have seen the MTNF campground closed and even the main picnic grounds (located at the junction of Mill Creek Road and Kaintuck Road) are only mowed about two times a year thanks to the volunteers from the “Friends of Mill Creek, Newburg” group.
