Plan a visit to Route 66 State Park

Plan a visit this summer to a Missouri State Park with a very interesting and unusual past.

Dennis Bresnahan

Route 66 State Park is along Interstate 44 in Eureka, Missouri.

It was named after the historic highway “Route 66” and there is an abandoned section of that highway that runs through the park.

Route 66 originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, to Los Angeles, and has been replaced by several interstate highways.

Today the park is 424 acres with four trails totaling seven miles that are suitable for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Equestrian parking is available and one of the trails is handicap accessible.

There is also a playground, a picnic area, two picnic shelters with restrooms, and plenty of parking.
