Missouri has a new state park. I attended the opening day ceremonies and ribbon-cutting to open Bryant Creek State Park on Friday, Sept. 23.
Bryant Creek State Park is in Douglas County in south-central Missouri.
Although there are a few Missouri Conservation Areas around, this had been an area that was void of state parks.
The opening ceremonies began at 11 a.m. with introductions of Missouri State Park personnel that were instrumental in planning, acquiring, and developing the park.
This included, in part: David Kelly, Missouri State Parks director; Chris Crabtree, Missouri natural resource steward and regional ecologist; Ken McCarty, Natural resource program director; and Nick Kromrie, park superintendent.
