It was the “Dog Days” of summer and temperatures had been in the high 90’s with heat indexes of over 100 degrees for several weeks.

On the weekend of August 17, a cold front moved in and the temperature dropped to the low 80’s with nighttime temperatures in the high 60’s.
At least this is cool for August, and this means for me that it is time to go camping again. I decided to camp at Cuivre River State Park this time.
This is one of Missouri’s largest and most rugged state parks at 6,468 acres with 46 miles of trails. This park looks and feels like places in the Ozarks with many hills and thick forests.
