Pink is the new blaze orange — or is it?

According to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, there is a movement on a national level to encourage deer and upland game hunters to wear blaze pink when they are hunting instead of blaze orange.

The blaze pink proponents contend that blaze pink is a safer color because it stands out and delineates humans better than blaze orange, especially in the fall hunting season when the leaves begin to turn color.

So far, 10 states (including Illinois) have enacted legislation providing for the wearing of blaze pink as an alternative to blaze orange when hunting.

The reactions to this legislation, frankly, are all over the board. Yes, there are a number of males who predictably (and ironically) state they would never be caught dead in a blaze pink hunting coat.
