Most of us have heard that carrying a rabbit’s foot is good luck. Perhaps a few of us have actually toted one around in our pocket. You know, “just in case.”
Same with four-leaf clovers, though with those I think it’s more the finding that is considered a harbinger of good luck.
In the old Ozarks, however, folks used to carry more than rabbit’s feet and four leaf clovers, and for various reasons.
Let’s start with buckeyes, since they are least a little known yet, and a few guys still carried them in their pockets when I was a kid.
