One of my oldest mysteries, solved

By Bob Frakes

There have been many angles that created my interest in the forest lookout towers over the years.

One of the biggest, with me and other hobbyists, was an index worked up by Jim Lyon many years ago.

It is a very comprehensive document looking at the towers in several regards.

It also contains several towers or lookouts that proved hard to nail down. These included High Knob/E Highway, Tee, Kirksville, Gibb’s Lake and Plots.

Being retired, I would do a little Sherlock Holmes work on these from time to time.

I located High Knob/E Highway west of Old Bartlett. It turned out to be a tree lookout atop High Knob. Tee turned out to be another tree lookout above Winona.
