North American river otters are here to stay

Otters are known far and wide for their adorable faces and hilarious antics. Being such a playful and entertaining animal, they are very easy to love.

In addition to being the one of the cutest members of the weasel family, river otters are notable for many different reasons.

River otters are perfectly adapted for life in the water. With their long, sleek bodies and tails, they glide through the water with ease.

Their webbed feet make them excellent swimmers and their thick, oily fur provides insulation from a chilly stream.

A female river otter goes about the daily business of hunting, grooming and pooping at a Monroe County farm of Tom and Nancy Richardson.
