Neosho’s Hickory Creek is a White Ribbon Trout stream

By Clint Dalbom

Hickory Creek flows nearly 2.5 miles through Morse Park in Neosho. Not only is it a beautiful attraction to the city, but it is classified as a White Ribbon trout stream.

There are nine White Ribbon Trout streams in Missouri; two of these are in Newton County in southwest Missouri. The other being Capps Creek in the east part of the county, near Jolly Mill Park.

Other popular White Ribbon Trout areas around Missouri include Roaring River, Upper Current River below Montauk State Park, and portions of the Eleven Point River.

Neosho is very fortunate to have this resource right here in our city.
