I met Case Spencer (Butters) about a year ago. This young outdoorsman from New Bloomfield, Mo., is good at many things, but finding huge catfish on the Missouri River in central Missouri is where his true expertise lies.
He is a monster hunter.
Butters grew up in an outdoor family and learned how to navigate the river from his dad, Mike. He has a few friends that occasionally accompany him, but his No. 1 deckhand is Evan Kinder.
I have been fortunate enough to get a couple of ride-alongs with these two. It was great fun and I learned a lot.
The boat and motor that Spencer runs is perfect for river fishing. It is wide and stable with enough room for 4 or 5 guys. It had plenty of room for the 3 of us.
