Missouri River Country, an initiative to promote the region of the last 100 miles of the Missouri River, was officially launched during a stakeholder meeting in Washington, Missouri.
“Our region is defined from Hermann to the Confluence or the Gateway Arch to wine country and boasts scenic beauty, charming small towns, and incredible historical sites along its rolling hills and bottomlands,” said Dan Burkhardt, the initiative’s founder.
The meeting, coordinated by the Boonslick Regional Planning Commission, showcased the initiative’s mission and new website — www.morivercountry.com.
Led by Missouri River Country board members who live in and work throughout the Missouri River Country region, the group presented many of the successes since being formed in 2014 and their plans for future activities.
“Missouri River Country is the Napa Valley or the Everglades of Missouri, a place where nature and history come together and offer visitors and residents something that is becoming harder to find,” said Burkhardt.
