I would have to guess that anyone in the Midwest who vacations and enjoys venues that feature water sports, shopping and adventures of literally every sort knows about Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri.
Having more miles of shoreline than the Pacific coast of California, the lake attracts vacationers and travelers from all over the world. And for good reason. It is one of the highest rated vacation spots in America.
That is an amazing fact but it also presents its own problems and issues. The commercialization of this region can actually make finding a place to stay more difficult than one might think. You can choose from small motels off the lake to luxury accommodations that nearly nobody can afford, and every conceivable combination in between.
In my many, many years of enjoying this area I have found, and would love to share with you, a true gem of a spot and THE one I highly recommend.
I began coming to the lake as a kid with my folks. Nancy and I have taken our 5 there more times than I count and now we enjoy taking our 4 grandchildren there as often as we can.
The best spot we have ever been to is the Lodge of the Four Seasons. This is a wonderful place to take kids, but it also has private areas that make a romantic couple’s trip very appealing.
One of the great features of the lodge is its location with respect to all the other activities the lake has to offer. It is close to many amazing restaurants. There is a grocery store and other shopping just at the end of the lane and the outlet mall is only minutes away. Not to mention that the attractions at the dam and Dogpatch are only a stone’s throw from the lodge.
On our trip there last month I took my grandsons Ayden and C.J. on a helicopter ride located just down the road from the lodge. So, as you can see, the Lodge of the Four Seasons is perfectly located to allow you to get to and enjoy all the major attractions.
But the main feature is the accommodations. You have a diversity of choices within this facility. You can choose from rooms in the lodge itself to very affordable luxury condos for you and your group. There are now six of us going there, so I prefer a condo.
These condos have a master bedroom with a king bed and huge bathroom along with a second bedroom with two queen beds and another full bath. Add a large living room, dining area and kitchen and you are set to relax and enjoy the lake.
The lodge makes it so easy for a family to have their whole vacation right there. With four pools, a marina, a spa, yoga, a theatre and golf, this really is one-stop-shopping for Lake Ozark accommodations.
They have an area called Kidtopia with kid’s games almost every day. They also feature two movies a night at the Cordoba Theatre. We were at the “Fire and Ice” pool one afternoon when a guy came around with bingo cards. He got on the PA system and called out bingo for an hour with free ice cream as the prizes. The kids loved it!
