The Katy Trail is 237 miles long. Known as “America’s Longest rails-to-trail” project, it is fairly level and scenic.

It follows the former MKT rail line and over half of it follows the path Lewis and Clark took along the Missouri River for their Corps of Discovery Expedition.
It is estimated anywhere from 400,000 to 500,000 people use the Katy Trail every year in Missouri, taking in the scenery and beauty of this former rail line.
When asked what part of the trail is most scenic, many say it’s the spot in Rocheport.
I have to agree that this section is a lovely part of the trail, and I think one of the reasons it is enjoyable for me is the fact that the only tunnel on the Katy Trail happens to be in this area.
