I sat in my turkey blind with my grandpa’s old shotgun. I imagined him many years ago holding that gun and waiting quietly for a turkey.

On the other end of the property, my grandson Hunter was also in his blind, waiting for a turkey and thinking about heading off to his first year of college at Kansas State University.
I sat in the dark. The early light filtered through the trees. Birds started singing their morning songs.
I looked up at the fading stars and said a silent prayer to thank God for this special time in the outdoors that He created.
