I had been sitting in the ladder stand overlooking an acre of turnips for over an hour.
It was still at least another hour to sunset, and there was already movement on the ridge above the food plot.
It was late muzzleloader season and I had one antlerless-only tag left to fill. Soon deer began to filter into the turnips.

I let five youngsters show up and begin to feed. Then, a very mature doe stopped by the plot for supper. She became my supper for several great meals.
This particular food plot is perfect for late-season hunting. But in October and early November the deer are not interested in it.
