He’s not the only one interested in Ozarks folklore and legends, as I often receive email and comments from people telling me they read this or that in the magazine and offering some of their own folklore.

Marriage, funerals, hunting and religion were also subject to unique customs in the Ozarks, according to David Burton, county engagement specialist in community development with University of Missouri Extension.
