As someone who has a deep love for the Mark Twain National Forest (MTNF), it’s only natural that I follow MTNF U.S. Forest Service and Mark Twain Forest Friends on Facebook.
Unfortunately, many of the posts on both pages are not showing us the beauty of the MTNF; instead we see the ugly aftermath of illegal dumping.
Illegal dumping, no matter where it happens, simply breaks my heart. First of all, it is harmful to wildlife. All types of critters can get sick by attempting to consume garbage.
For those who consume wild game, remember we are eating what those animals have been eating. Dumping can also harm humans by impacting our groundwater supply.
