I have an appreciation for author Bill Bryson’s humor and wit. When he claimed something was “so bad, it was worth more than we paid” in his novel In a Sunburned Country, it really made me chuckle.
The truth is that I am right there with him. There are so many places in America that come with the “tourist trap” label that I actually enjoy.
Despite the price tag, mandatory gift shop, and souvenir photos snapped against a green screen, I love every second of roadside attractions.
As one travels along I-44 in Missouri, you just cannot escape the billboards promoting this exit or that exit with all their hidden gems.
