One of the best things about duck hunting is getting the opportunity to bond with your dog.
And dogs do a big service in finding those ducks out in the brush that we would never find on our own.

In fact, at the duck club where I hunt, you are required to have a dog with you or you can’t go. So it is hard to imagine a duck hunting trip where you are told not to bring a dog.
My brother (King) and Bill Selby went on such a duck hunting trip to Louisiana several years ago. I did not go on this boondoggle primarily because I wasn’t invited, but there were other reasons as well.
For one thing, they were going to be hunting 75 miles south of New Orleans. This meant sitting in a duck blind in 90-degree weather, swatting mosquitos and waiting for that cottonmouth to show up next to you in the blind.
No thanks (even if I did not get invited).
