Collectors travel to Carthage for fishing lure show

By Dennis Evans

Recently in Carthage people were looking for Pawpaws, Creek Chubs, South Bends and other brands of fishing lures; not for fishing but to add to their collection of fishing gear.

The National Fishing Lure Collection Club (NFLCC) held its 36th Annual Carthage Show on March 18. The NFLCC was organized in 1976 to educate and promote the collection of fishing tackle.

The club’s website has hundreds of trade catalogs and publications to aid in the identification of lures and fishing equipment.

At the show, the wares of 45 vendors were for sale and organizers were anticipating an estimated 200-300 people attending the one-day event.
