Cave is an ‘unappreciated gem’

One of my first columns in The River Hills Traveler five years ago told the story of our visit to Round Spring Cave.

I’ve always thought Round Spring was one of the best cave tours I’ve ever been on.

I even started guiding in Springfield’s Sequiota Cave with the Park Board’s Outdoor Initiatives crew because of that experience in Round Spring.

But then I visited Blanchard Springs Cave in Arkansas.

At least two Arkansas natives I know, one of them my father-in-law, have pronounced Blanchard an “unappreciated gem.”

They used the same phrase, and they don’t even know each other.
