I know several families who look forward to turkey hunting together each spring. Mine is one of those families.
But today I want to share with you the highlights of the 2024 spring season for the family of one of my very best friends.
I have known J.D. Stevenson for over a dozen years. We met at Lakeside Christian Church in Springfield, Ill., and our mutual love of the Lord and of chasing gobblers created a lifelong bond and a great friendship.
He knows of my boy’s love for the sport, and I know his daughter Lexi’s (George) passion for spring gobbling.
A couple of years ago George married Dusty Thomason, who had never hunted turkeys before. As you can imagine, the lessons began and, in the spring of 2023, Dusty killed his first gobbler.
