Dragonflies and damselflies flutter around a kayak during a summer float trip down one of Missouri’s wonderful waterways.
Jewel-colored wings, bold stripes, and eye-catching colors make these water-loving insects a brilliant sight to behold.
Dragonflies and damselflies start life in the water as nymphs (also known as larvae). As some of Missouri’s most successful predators, they enjoy snacking on other aquatic macroinvertebrates, tadpoles, and even small fish.
