sunlit autumn forest path with golden leaves

Alone in the wild

It is 5 a.m on a February morning. I sit at my desk in my home office, writing a story about going camping for one of the print and online publications I write for.

My wife is still sleeping.

I turn the television on in my office to check the weather for the day.

The forecast was really good for the whole week, considering it was February. Unseasonably warm during the day and not too cold at night.

It was a lot better than the news about protests, one political party complaining about another, and other news that only depresses and angers me.

I turn the television off and go back to writing.

With the decent weather for February they were predicting, I cannot keep my mind on writing. There are always things for me to get done outside in the yard.
