This last weekend my wife Joy and I went on a campout at our favorite outdoor spot.
This property is located next to the Upper Meramec River at Cedar Ford. The weather was perfect, with the mornings cool and the afternoons warm and comfortable.
We sat by the open fire and cooked our meals and totally enjoyed ourselves. One reason we picked this weekend was that I saw an advertisement for classes given by Missouri University Extension Service.
The Extension Service has been operating for the public giving classes for many years. I remember my mother taking classes given by them when I was in grade school, and that was long ago.
The classes that caught my eye were chainsaw safety and “Woodland Steward and a Walk in the Woods.”
Chainsaw safety class was interesting but was not given to fit my schedule, but the “Woodland Steward and a Walk in the Woods” class was perfect timing and only 10 miles from where we were camped near Cooks Station, Mo.
