Outdoor cooking classes offer some new tricks

Doris Lessing once said that learning is when you “suddenly understand something you have understood all your life, but in a new way.”

With that mindset, I registered for a free class at Shaw Nature Reserve offered by the Missouri Department of Conservation titled “Outdoor Cooking.”

It’s safe to say I have cooked outdoors quite a bit in my life, but this proverbial “old dog” wanted to learn some new tricks and potentially understand something in a new way.

I initially saw the course on Facebook because I follow both Shaw Nature Reserve and the MDC. It caught my eye and before I knew it, I was figuring out how to navigate the MDC website to sign up for this free class.
