Materials needed:

• Egg yarn

• Nymph hook size 14-1020160615_204207-1

• Danville 210 Denier thread – match yarn color

 

For this demonstration I used a size 14 hook and orange thread.

Start the thread at the halfway point on the shank of the hook, put a small thread base on the hook centered in the middle of the hook, about 7 or 8 wraps.

Measure out 2 pieces of yarn based on the size of your hook; I used about three-quarter of an inch for each. Take the first piece of yarn and place it crossways on the bottom side of the hook shank, see picture.  The next piece you will tie in on the top side of the hook shank. If you look closely at the picture you will see that the two pieces are tied on in the shape of an X.
