This lure was handmade by Lucas Brennecke, of Arnold, Mo., in the early 60s. The cotter pin in the back of the lure would be retracted and an Alka-Seltzer tablet, with a hole drilled in the center, would slide between the legs of the clothes pin. The cotter pin would then be re-inserted through the tablet, holding the tablet in place. When the lure was cast into the water, the tablet would fizz and was supposed to attract fish. If any fish had any sort of malady the healing effects of the Alka-Seltzer tablet would make everything better.
