River Hills Traveler staff writer Jeff Shoults is the coordinator/founder of Stream Team 1700. He and his son, Ben, recently floated the Code-A-Way and had a blast. “I always bring goggles along for the kids to dive down to pick up trash and Benny found this soda can and handkerchief,” said Shoults. “We pulled two bags of trash out of the creek and enjoyed every minute of it.”
Want to do something positive for the environment and teach your children values, all while having fun? Bring along goggles on your next float trip and let the kids dive to the bottom for litter on the river bottom. Make it a competition to see who can get the most trash or most unusual object. This is a great way to clean up our streams and make wonderful memories with the family. And it’s a blast!
